Shooting at Carlton Towers
Carlton Towers is essentially a family shoot, although we sell a number of days through out the season. The family atmosphere is what we are keen to pass on to our paying guests, every day that is run at Carlton is treated with the same attention to detail no matter how large or small.
We believe at Carlton that shooting is only part of the day albeit a very important one, excellent shooting combined with first class hospitality is what makes shooting at Carlton towers a red letter day for the game book.
About the Shoot
Carlton Towers is fast gaining an enviable reputation for quality partridge shooting. Driven over high hedges and shelter belts the French partridge test the most experienced of guns, but on the arrival of the English partridge the guns really need to move up a gear, with their distinctive calls and frantic flying style many an experienced gun is left bewildered as the covey flies away unscathed. The English partridge at Carlton are part of carefully managed conservation programme which won the estate silver in the 2007 Purdey awards. Partridges are not the only shooting available, pheasants are released in the estates parkland and combined with a good population of wild pheasants, mixed pheasant and partridge days provide a variety of different shooting.
A typical day
Guns meet at Carlton Towers for coffee. Guns are briefed on the day by the Head gamekeeper. Mid morning the guns are provided with hot and cold drinks. A light lunch is provided and taken in the shooting lodge. On completion of the days shooting the guns return to Carlton Towers where they are greeted by log fires and pre-dinner drinks before sitting down to a hearty meal in beautiful surroundings.

Alongside our award winning game shoot we run a number of different packages for the newcomer to shooting.An introduction to game shooting
This package has been put together for the inexperienced game shot or the total novice. Designed to give an insight into game shooting in a safe and controlled environment. The day consists of clay pigeon shooting with one to one tuition, with a series of interludes throughout the morning, where a briefing of safety, etiquette in the shooting field and the history of game shooting is explained. The afternoon session will involve a number of small drives on live game, under the direct instruction of a shooting coach giving the customer a taste of live game shooting and the chance to take a brace of bird home for the table. Guns and cartridges are provided, along with hospitality and accommodation package if required.
Shoot, cook and eat
Along similar lines of the introduction to game day, but with the added extra of a demonstration and discussion in the preparation of game for the table, by a master butcher. This is very much a hands on experience and a unique opportunity to taste the game from field to table.
Clay pigeon shooting
With its 200 acres of parkland and the dramatic backdrop of Carlton Towers, we are able to offer clay pigeon packages to suit both novice and experienced guns alike. Whether it be half a dozen friends wishing to shoot a few clays as part of their stag or hen do, or a large shoot for corporate clients, packages are tailor made to suit your requirements.
